Food Hygiene Course
This is a non-accredited short course designed specifically as a first insight into the basics of food hygiene in the UK. The course supports specific language development and is delivered in a supportive way to promote confidence and success. It will provide learners with a chance to go on and complete accredited courses with other providers.
Driving Theory Course
This has been Refugee Alliance’s most popular course as it provides individuals with a skill that gives them independence and opens up opportunities for better life chances. The program prepares individuals for the driving theory test using specially designed resources and practice theory tests to assess test readiness.
Basic Digital Skills Course
Supporting Integration in the UK Course
This course was created to support the integration process and was designed with feedback from the newly arrived families. The experiences and issues that they faced have been used to create a flexible and responsive course that deals with everyday issues related to living in the UK. Some topics included: managing expectations, housing, travel and transport, the police, education systems, safeguarding, domestic violence as well as how and where to get help.
Language Skills
These skills are embedded across all Refugee Alliance courses. The aim is to promote confidence and independence. Bi-lingual support is offered across most of our courses, however, we encourage all participants to communicate in English as much as possible.
Parenting Skills in the UK Course
This course was developed in response to the families’ desire to understand how parenting in the UK differs to that of their home countries, how children’s behaviours change and how we can respond most effectively. Also it looks at the challenges their children will face living in the UK. Some topics included: child development, communicating effectively with your children, understanding temperament, instilling self-esteem, morals and values as well as being a good role model.
